ACO WaterDome | Learning Space for Sustainable Water Management Solutions
The ACO WaterDome makes sustainable water management tangible – interactive, visual, and future-focused.
Since 1946, ACO has been developing solutions that protect and improve water quality – with the ambition to create sustainable systems that relieve our environment in the long term.
To bring this idea to life and share it with others, the ACO WaterDome was created.
The ACO WaterDome is an interactive experience space that serves as a central platform to raise awareness – in a playful and engaging way – about the challenges and solutions surrounding water. It is part of ACO’s commitment to sustainable urban development and future-oriented water management.
How does sustainable water management work at ACO?
Shaping the future with ACO | experience sustainable rainwater management live.
The ACO WaterCycle becomes tangible through several interactive stations.
Visitors discover how water is collected, purified, and reused, presented in a clear and engaging way, with insights into the technologies and values that drive ACO.
Experience the ACO WaterDome live for yourself
Follow our ACO WaterCycle in real life.
The Dome has now been installed at the ACO Academy in Büdelsdorf, offering an impressive first introduction to the world of ACO during guided group tours.
Thanks to its easy setup and dismantling, it will also be used at other locations in the coming years.

Collect | Smart rainwater collection
Efficient rainwater collection is the first step toward sustainable water management.
With the Seal In channel system, water is safely and precisely drained — without any loss.
Inside the WaterDome, visitors can use small fishing rods to catch 3D-printed seahorses from a water-filled channel, making the experience both interactive and memorable.

Clean | Filtering out pollutants
Rainwater carries pollutants like tire wear particles and microplastics into the environment.
ACO reliably filters these out using substrate solutions and grease separators — for clean water and healthy ecosystems.
At this station, visitors can see how polluted water is purified using advanced filtration technology.

Hold | Storing and retaining water
With the Stormbrixx system, rainwater is stored underground and released gradually.
This creates climate-resilient infrastructure that protects cities from heavy rainfall.
Using self-assembled mini modules, visitors can playfully explore how the Stormbrixx system displaces and stores water — made visible by placing the modules into a small water tank.

Reuse | Making smart use of rainwater
The ClimateBoxx supplies urban trees with rainwater — precisely and app-controlled.
Complemented by resource-saving solutions like the vacuum toilet, ACO demonstrates how modern infrastructure can work sustainably.
This system is live-tested inside the WaterDome and uses just one liter of water per flush.

Idea Shower | Share your thoughts, shape the future
At the Idea Shower, visitors can write down their thoughts on water and sustainability and attach them to a real shower head.
This creates a creative space for exchange, inspiration, and collective thinking about the future.

Power of Materials | Innovation through 3D printing
At ACO, 3D printing enables fast and flexible product development.
Inside the WaterDome, a live demonstration shows how digital designs are transformed into tangible components.
This offers a fresh perspective on the future of product innovation.

Waterstress | Water needs attention
Whether drought or flood — water is under pressure.
At this creative hands-on station, visitors can use AI image generators to visualize their ideas for the future of water.
This interactive experience sparks reflection and encourages action.
